The 7th Annual Texas Hill Country Cowboy Gathering Rides Back into Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, TX, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The 7th Annual Texas Hill Country Cowboy Gathering (THCCG) returns to Fredericksburg on October 17th for an evening of celebrating the music, poetry, stories and traditions of the American cowboy. Presented at the Rockbox Theater, this year’s gathering, billed as “A Cowboy’s Night in Old Texas,” brings together some of the most respected voices in contemporary cowboy music and poetry for an evening of Western entertainment.

Founded by John Muraglia, the Texas Hill Country Cowboy Gathering is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the enduring traditions of the American West. “Our mission is to promote and celebrate the ranching and cowboy culture of the old and new West through song, story, poetry, and art—extending from a bygone era to as current as yesterday,” Muraglia says.

Among this year’s featured performers is Andy Hedges, who has been part of every Texas Hill Country Cowboy Gathering since its beginning. Hedges is also preparing for another significant honor: his upcoming induction into the West Texas Walk of Fame on October 8th. “It’s an incredible honor to join the ranks of heroes of mine like Buddy Holly, Waylon Jennings, Bob Wills, Andy Wilkinson, Barry Corbin, and many others,” Hedges says.

The 2026 lineup features an accomplished group of performers with deep connections to Western music and cowboy culture. Joel Nelson, an NEA National Heritage Fellow, is widely recognized as one of the leading cowboy poets of his generation and brings his distinctive storytelling and poetry to the Fredericksburg stage.

“We are really lucky to have Joel in Fredericksburg,” Hedges says. “Of course, we're honored to have Pipp Gillette and Lloyd Wright, both playing traditional cowboy music with a variety of instruments and a lot of history behind the old cowboy songs. The talented Chris Ryden writes wonderful songs about the West. Plus, we are all friends, and that really comes through onstage. And my daughter Maggie Rose Hedges will also be performing!"

For Muraglia, the gathering is an opportunity to bring together people who appreciate the history, artistry and enduring spirit of the American West. “We’ve got an amazing lineup of talent and an incredible location,” Muraglia says. “I’m looking forward to an evening of fellowship and celebrating the cowboy culture that continues to be such an important part of Texas.”

Hedges is equally enthusiastic about returning to Fredericksburg for this year’s gathering. “This is going to be an excellent event,” Hedges says. “The Rockbox Theater is a great-sounding room, and it’s hard to beat being in Fredericksburg in the fall!”
