Fatality Crash in Bonneville County near Wyoming
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, ID. Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:07 am on Friday, September 11, 2026, on US26 at mile post 397, east of Irwin.
A 1999 Porsche Carrera, driven by a 71-year-old male from McKinney, Texas, was traveling eastbound. A 2020 Ram 1500 pickup, driven by a 36-year-old male from Afton, Wyoming, was traveling westbound. The Porsche Carrera crossed over the center line and collided head on with the Ram 1500 pickup.
The driver of the Ram pickup and passenger, a 27-year-old female from Afton, were transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Porsche Carrera succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. All occupants were wearing their seat belts.
The highway was blocked for approximately five hours to allow emergency responders to investigate the crash.
Idaho State Police were assisted by Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Swan Valley Fire, Idaho Transportation Department and Alpine Wyoming EMS.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
